Concentrated therapy to accelerate healing & growth

Trauma intensive
Therapy

You’ve got a full schedule, high standards, and not a lot of free time. Weekly therapy has a ceiling. Fifty minutes, once a week, with the first ten spent catching up and the last ten spent pulling yourself together before you have to go back to your life. You get to the real thing right as the session ends. Then you wait seven days to pick it back up again.

Intensives are built for people who are ready to do the real work and want to do it efficiently. In a few focused days, you can move further than most people move in a year of weekly sessions.

An intensive gives you unhurried time to process trauma, heal negative beliefs, or remove blocks to performance goals.

Weekly therapy isn’t always the right answer.

What is Intensive Therapy?

A Therapy Intensive is exactly what the name says: concentrated, immersive, trauma-focused therapy designed to move you further in a few focused hours than most people move in months of weekly sessions.

The difference is momentum.

In a standard 50-minute session, the first ten minutes go to checking in and the last ten go to grounding you before you leave. That leaves roughly 30 minutes of real depth work. An intensive removes that stop-and-start rhythm entirely. We go in, we stay in, and we do not stop right when it gets real.

Using EMDR, somatic therapy, and Internal Family Systems, we work at the level where your trauma actually lives, not just the surface story you've already told a hundred times. These approaches are specifically chosen because they access because they work fast, go deep, and produce changes that last.

Intake Session

Free Consult Call

How it works:

We start with a r20-minute consultation. And it's not a sales call. It's a genuine conversation to determine whether an intensive is the right fit for you right now, and whether I am the right person to support you. If I don't think it's the right fit, I'll tell you honestly.

Depending on the package you choose, we meet for a half-day, a full day, or across multiple days. Sessions run in focused blocks with breaks built in. We met anywhere online in TN but there is an option to meet in person at a vacation rental or other venue with advance notice.

Before we do any deep work, we meet for a dedicated 60-minute intake session. We review your history, identify the specific goals for your intensive, and build a customized plan. This is how we make sure we spend your intensive hours on depth work, not background I could have had in advance.

Post Integration Session

After your intensive, we meet one more time for 60-minutes to reflect on what shifted, identify what to carry forward, and make sure you feel grounded and equipped before you go back to your life.

From our first session, we’re working with purpose and direction. I’ll be direct with you about what I’m observing. The patterns, the stuck places, the things you might have been working around for years. It will be direct but empathetic. Clarity is the fastest path to change.

Using EMDR, IFS, and Somatic Processing Therapy, we work at the source of what’s driving the patterns, not just the surface behavior. These approaches are specifically chosen because they access what talk therapy alone often can’t reach, and they work in a fraction of the time.

You’ll leave with more than just insight. Most clients describe a noticeable internal shift, a sense of things actually moving, that feels different from anything they’ve experienced in traditional therapy. That’s the point. Nicolette Tomaszewski, LPC-MHSP offers therapy intensives online across  Tennessee, providing an accelerated path to healing for people who want deep change without the long-term weekly commitment.

Ongoing monthly intensives are also an option for new or current clients.
A monthly intensive is a single 4-hour session every 4-6 weeks.
Instead of dragging the process out in weekly, 50-minute sessions, you can do a 4-hour intensive block on a regular basis to reach your goals.

This is a great option for deeper work that requires more time to address. It's also more efficient and cost-effective to depth-focused work. Monthly intensives are $1000/session and, once you've reached your goals, we'll schedule a 90-minute wrap up session to integrate your work and review any next steps that might be beneficial.

How is intensive therapy more cost effective and time efficient than weekly therapy?

Therapy Intensives

Traditional Therapy

10-15 minutes of checking in and establishing a focus for the session

160-210 minutes of EMDR/IFS/processing

10-15 minutes closing the session

It’s common to fully resolve one or multiple stressors within half of a day, costing around $2000. Two to three hours of EMDR processing is equivalent to at least double that amount of traditional talk therapy, so you’re doing more work in less time. You’ll need less therapy overall.

The main point? You feel better sooner.

You spend less money on therapy. You spend less time on symptom-managing. You don’t have to keep taking time off work or paying for childcare to attend your sessions.

10-15 minutes of checking in from the last session

20-30 minutes of EMDR/IFS/processing

10-15 minutes of closing the session

You might spend a month working one specific stressor, costing around $1400 for the 4 weekly therapy sessions.

But realistically, stuff comes up between sessions, so you don’t always want to work on EMDR or Somatic processing in the next session, and the focus might shift significantly week-to-week.

So in reality, you might actually be in therapy for multiple months ($1400 x # of months) and still not fully resolve the stressor you’re dealing with right now.

“Highlyyyy recommend Nicolette for all your entrepreneur-related therapy needs. She coached me through a LOT in 4 months, and I look forward to returning at some point :)”

“You have given me my life back. I can’t thank you enough.”

“Nicolette is an amazing trauma therapist. She’s saved my life–quite literally–and improved the lives of my children after substantial traumas.”

“I feel beyond lucky to know you and work with you. Literally hear your voice sometimes coming through!”

“One piece that keeps coming up is this idea of a ‘story I tell myself’ and that there can be other stories, too.”

FAQs

What is a therapy intensive?

A therapy intensive is a concentrated, immersive format of trauma therapy. Instead of meeting for 50 minutes once a week, you block a half-day, full day, or multiple days to do deep, focused work without interruption. Most clients accomplish more in a single intensive than in several months of weekly sessions.

Who is a good fit for a therapy intensive?

Women who are serious about change and ready to do the real work. Intensives are especially well suited for high-achieving women who have already done some therapy but feel stuck, who have a specific trauma or pattern they want to address directly, or whose schedules make a long-term weekly commitment difficult to sustain.

How is an intensive different from weekly therapy?

Weekly sessions lose significant time to check-in and close-out, leaving around 30 minutes of actual depth work per session. A half-day intensive gives you close to 2.5 hours of focused processing. That is the equivalent of five or more weekly sessions, without losing momentum in between.

What modalities do you use in your intensives?

I'm trained in several evidence-based modalities for trauma work. Many intensives utilize a combination of EMDR, somatic therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), but I am also trained in CPT, TF-CBT, and ARC. Every intensive is customized to your goals and sequenced in the way that best serves your specific work. No two intensives look exactly alike.

Are intensives virtual or in-person?

All intensives are currently conducted virtually. In-person sessions may be available with advance notice. If you're interested in an in-person intensive, please ask this during your consultation and we will discuss what is possible.

Do I need to be a current client to do an intensive?

No. Intensives are open to new clients as well as existing clients. If you are currently working with another therapist and want to add an intensive to your care, I am happy to collaborate with your therapist with your permission.

What happens after the intensive?

Every intensive includes a 50-minute post-intensive integration session. We use that time to debrief what shifted, identify what to carry forward, and make sure you feel grounded before you return to your regular life. You will also receive personalized notes and recommended next steps.

How do I know which package is right for me?

We figure that out together on your free consultation call. There is no commitment required on the call. It is a genuine conversation about what you are working on, what you need, and what format makes the most sense for your goals.

Can I do an intensive if I am not in Nashville?

Yes. All sessions are virtual, which means you can participate from anywhere in Tennessee. In-person options may also be available with advance notice for those who prefer to travel for their intensive. Some people like traveling for the intensive, as it adds to the experience of having a get-away to purely focus on healing and growth. If you are located outside of TN, please inquire about a coaching intensive.

Can I do an intensive if I am not in Nashville?

Absolutely. Intensives work well as adjunct therapy. I’ll ask for a release of information so your therapist and I can coordinate

Can insurance cover some of the cost?

Sometimes. Many insurance plans (typically PPOs) will reimburse a portion of the cost of psychotherapy. For insurance purposes, I am considered an out-of-network provider.

I recommend you speak with your insurance company ahead of time to learn the exact details of your policy, including what out-of-network benefits are available, and if your insurance will reimburse several hours of therapy in one day or one week. You can call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card to find this information.

I can provide you with a superbill for all direct contact therapy services included in your intensive. This is what you will submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please note that the insurance company requires a diagnosis code as a reason for treatment. If you have questions, let me know. I’m happy to provide more information to help with this process.
